Voting with the kids

Jess and I like the idea of setting an example for the kids - that it's important to vote, that it's part of your responsibilities as a grown-up and it's up to you to figure out how to fit it into your schedule. So we both went after dinner last night, and took the kids with us.

It didn't go exactly how I wanted. First of all, Gillian thought we kept saying "We're going to go boats." So she was pretty disgusted to find absolutely no watercraft of any kind.

Sam was more aware of the process, but not necessarily of the proper voting etiquette. He's proud of his reading skills (as he should be, because he's a genius) so he demonstrated that by calling out my votes on all the propositions on the ballot.

Sam: "No!"
Me: "Shh!"
Sam: "Yes!"
Me: "Shh!"

And so on. Democracy at work!
